ADJUNCT FACULTY: SOCIAL & CULTURAL DIMENSIONS OF FOOD AND EATING
Ƶ is looking for anadjunct instructorto teach the course “Social and Cultural Dimensions of Food and Eating,” which will form part of a graduate-level program in Food Studies, Policies for Sustainable Production and Consumption.
The course will meet for 45 contact hours from the end of January to mid-May 2025.
The learning objectives are:
- Frame and address food systems from a social and cross-cultural perspective
- Analyze the different individual and collective eating practices and meanings conveyed by eating patterns and their socio-cultural and economic determinants.
- Approach the study of the contemporary food production and consumption systems through a socio-anthropological lens encompassing the complexity of their global and local interconnections.
- Critically unpack the different contemporary foodscapes into their ontological, symbolic, social, political, and economic components to face the challenges of the food system.
- Identify and use the appropriate qualitative methodological tools to observe, collect, and interpret socio-cultural phenomena related to food and eating.
Required qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of English
- Ph.D. in social and/or environmental and/or cultural anthropology, sociology, human and cultural geography.
- Previous teaching experience.
Desirable qualifications
- Previous teaching experience at the graduate level

SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT
Purpose of the Job and Main Responsibilities:
The Senior Financial Accountant assists the University Finance Team in preparing and providing financial & management accounting of all aspects of the University finances.
The Senior Financial Accountant will be working as part of the Finance team.
The financial accountant's duties and tasks are expected to include:
Management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting
- Prepare monthly accruals, prepayments, and other ad hoc journals
- Assisting with the preparation and production of timely, accurate monthly
- management accounts, supporting analysis, and variance reports
- Provide budget holders with financial information that meets their needs
- Assist with the collection and collation of information and data to assist with the preparation of the annual budget and forecast projections
- Prepare restricted funds statements, reconciliations, and variance reports
Financial Statements and regulatory reporting
- Assist with the year-end routines and help with the preparation of the financial statements and year-end closing accounts activities
- This will include liaison with the external auditors during the year-end processes
- Assist with quarterly analysis and reporting
Accounts Receivables (Student Billings)
- Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, prepare student billing, including generating invoice statements
- Liaise with students and parents (University clients) regarding invoice outstanding, payment due, and payment plan requests
- Checking credits: Ensuring any credits, such as refunds or discounts, are correctly applied to the correct invoice
- Investigating any differences between the amounts on the invoices, credits, and actual payments
Financial transactions and cash flow
- Process and record payments from US bank to the University.
- Ensure the payments are documented and fully reconciled
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting, billing, or finance-related roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Familiar with accounting software packages (e.g., Dynamics 365 Business Central) and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel).
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively handle inquiries and collaborate with various departments.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English is mandatory

IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
The Position
The IT Support Specialist will work with the Computer Services Team. They will be primarily responsible for providing general computer and IT assistance to computer system users. They will provide 1stand 2ndlevel support to troubleshoot and identify solutions for client-side hardware and software support requests. The IT Support Specialist will also be responsible for supporting and maintaining instructional AV equipment and servicing the various computer labs on campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and oversee the operating order of AUR’s Windows Desktop Computers and Laptops. This entails onboarding new devices, installing and managing applications, and overseeing updates and security patches.
- Provide computer and general IT support to end users (faculty, staff, and students).
- Manage the IT stockroom and inventory system for instructional and administrative equipment. Ensuring that the system reflects equipment availability and loans.
- Manage AUR’s printing and photocopying system by providing 1stlevel support to all copiers and printers on campus, updating drivers when needed, and troubleshooting printing issues. When required, liaise with vendor for 2ndlevel support.
- Create and maintain procedures for checking in and out of instructional equipment
- Maintain and service audio/visual and digital equipment located in the various AUR buildings, hosting classrooms and auditorium. Ensure that faculty classroomneeds are met.
- Provide assistance in the use of all audio/visual equipment for university special events. This requires supporting the special lecture series which are frequently scheduled in the evening.
- Engaging as an active member of the Computer Services team by assisting colleagues as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- High-level IT skill set and advanced knowledge of Windows systems (operating systems, Microsoft 365, Identity, In-tune, SharePoint, and Office applications). Must be autonomous in providing 1stand 2nd-level support
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft GPOs, and basic networking concepts.
- At least 3 years proven work experience in a similar IT role.
- Competency in the use of audio/visual and instructional equipment (familiarity with system amplifiers, de-embedders, audio mixers, and HDMI technology is desired but not required).
- Strong problem-solving skills, be able to engage in independent study of solutions to problems.
- Be flexible with their working schedule to cover evening events when required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex IT-related issues to non-IT users.
- Advanced spoken English, he/she must be able to converse with native speakers.
- Demonstrated ability to work across cultures, value differences, and have an inclusive approach.
