Italy’s New Far-Right Government: Implications for Europe and Beyond.

Guest Speaker:ÌýDr Andrea Dessì,ÌýIstituto Affari InternazionaliÌý(±õ´¡±õ)
Date: October 4, 2022
Time: 7:00pm
Venue: The AUR Auditorium, via Pietro Roselli, 16 - 00153, Rome.

Italy is set to have its most radical right-wing government since World War II. One of the questions this raises is whether the next Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, was elected despite her neo-fascist roots or because of them (e.g. during the political campaign, Meloni’s party used the Mussolini-era slogan: ‘God, Homeland and Family’).

Our guestÌýspeaker, Dr. Andrea Dessì will help us analyze:

  1. the impact of the Italian far-right government on the European Union (EU)
  2. the position of the new government on foreign and security policy issues – e.g. Russia and the war in Ukraine
  3. the changes at the national level in terms of civil rights, migration policies, and basic income.Ìý
